Take Back The Power from Special Interests!

In 47 states, eyecare patients can buy eyeglasses at affordable prices in convenient retail locations. Unfortunately, Oklahoma isn't one of those states. Vision Oklahoma is gathering signatures to bring an end to this archaic practice. State Question 793 will make optical services more accessible and economical for all Oklahomans.

Make no mistake. It won't be easy. Special interests are fighting hard at the state capitol to keep this pro-patient change from happening. So, we have just one choice — bypass the legislature by gathering signatures to force a vote. JOIN US! Let’s show the politicians the real power is with the people!

Vision Oklahoma is a project of Oklahomans for Consumer Freedom. We are advocates for Oklahoma consumers and patients who want more choices, more convenience, and greater affordability. In 2016, we were instrumental in passing State Question 792 – Oklahoma’s landmark state question to modernize our alcohol laws. We expect to be successful again in 2018.

Top 10 Reasons to Sign the Petition

number 1

It’s the right thing to do for families. Oklahomans should have more options when it comes to the vision needs of their families.

number 3

We deserve the same rights as other Americans. It is time to modernize Oklahoma’s laws and give Oklahoma patients the same convenience, quality, access, and affordability enjoyed in 47 other states.

number 5

Jobs: By the thousands, Oklahomans go to other states to buy eyeglasses and contact lenses. Economists say that instead of creating jobs in other states, we can keep those jobs here.

number 7

It’s time for Oklahoma to stop being the last in everything it does. We have to shed the “backwards” image we have (sometimes of ourselves!). We can be a first-class state, and one step toward doing that is getting rid of archaic laws that benefit special interests.

number 9

Lower Costs: It just makes sense — the more competition, the lower the price. Open up the free market and we all will benefit.

number 2

Show the politicians we are tired of their games. With special interests dominating the capitol, it is time for the people to write the laws!

number 4

State Question 793 gives quality Oklahoma optometrists the ability to open practices where their patients are. It lifts unnecessary restrictions on their right to practice.

number 6

Roads, bridges, and other infrastructure: When Oklahomans go to other states for eyeglasses, they generally end up buying other goods and services, eating a meal or two, and filling their cars up with gasoline. Let's take away the incentive to spend money in Texas, Kansas, and Arkansas, and keep those tax dollars here where they can fund our schools, roads, bridges, and other needs.

number 8

Help our small businesses. The lack of choice leads Oklahomans to shop online for eyeglasses and contact lenses. If consumers have more options, it will help stem the tide.
